Nova Scotia heat pump rebates now that the oil programme has closed
What closed
The federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability programme closed to new Nova Scotia applicants in 2026. An installer source reports the date as 2 July 2026 (unverified on an official page).
What's still available (reported)
- Moderate Income Rebate: up to $5,000 (reported).
- Home Energy Assessment programme: up to $5,000, combinable with the above (reported).
- HomeWarming: free upgrades for eligible lower-income households.
What's next
The federal National Heat Pump Rebate ($2,000, or up to $10,000 below median income) is expected to open in early 2027, for installs from 1 November 2026. Nova Scotia's income thresholds for the higher amount run from $38,831 (1 person) to $131,835 (5+). Important: if federal funding was already paid for a heat pump at your address (for example through OHPA), the federal rules say you're not eligible.
